After being diagnosed with late stage chronic Lyme Disease, Bartonella and other co-infections as well as mold poisoning and mast cell activation disorder and a list of other conditions/illnesses I’d never heard of before, my life changed forever.
I was thrust into a world of doctors and specialists from around the world with virtually no guidance. I had online support groups which were incredibly helpful and supportive but I didn’t have anyone to guide me at doctors’ appointments. I didn’t know what questions to ask, I didn’t know which labs or tests to ask for or how to read them. I was too sick to create a medical file as advised by my original infectious disease doctor.
As a small business owner of a wellness center in Los Angeles, I already had researching skills and I used those skills to learn about my own illnesses and how to collaborate with my doctors.
BECOMING A HEALTH COACH
There were many appointments my husband attended with me and he was blown away by listening to me talk to my practitioners. When we’d leave he’d say, “That was NOT a conversation between a doctor and a patient – that was two medical professionals collaborating about a patient – YOU.” Many of my practitioners over the years have told me I have a whole other career in me as a health coach/medical advocate and one surgeon even mentioned wanting to hire me (this as I was being wheeled into surgery).
I’ve helped many friends and family members navigate their own medical journeys so adding these services under my Peace of Mind brand made perfect sense.
WHO CAN BENEFIT
My services are for anyone feeling overwhelmed by the medical system in our country. Most of my treatments have been out of network so I spend a lot of time submitting claims to my insurance company for reimbursement.
Not everyone has time to do this. I’m part of the sandwich generation which means I’m taking care of my aging parents as well as my teenager still at home. For families like mine with both parents working and helping elderly family members, managing our medical care takes time and organizational skills.
I look forward to helping you and/or your family members navigate your medical and health care needs.
